📷 Do I need to be an experienced photographer to join?
No. All levels are welcome from complete beginners to professionals.
You will receive personalized coaching, help with camera settings, composition guidance, and daily editing sessions to help you grow regardless of your current skill level.
💪 How fit do I need to be for gorilla trekking?
Gorilla trekking requires a moderate level of fitness.
The hikes can last anywhere from 1–4 hours depending on where the gorillas are that day. The terrain is uneven and can be steep, but the pace is slow with regular breaks.
Most guests are able to complete the treks comfortably with proper footwear and hydration.
🦍 How close do we get to the gorillas?
Very close.
Gorillas are protected by strict rules and a safe viewing distance, but it’s common to be within 5–10 meters, giving you outstanding portrait opportunities without disturbing them.
📸 What lenses should I bring?
Recommended lenses : 70–200mm (essential for gorilla and chimp encounters), 24–70mm (for wider forest scenes & portraits), 100–400mm or 200–600mm (amazing for wildlife in Queen Elizabeth & Murchison Falls)
Optional: 14–24mm for landscapes, waterfalls, and lodge scenes
📸 How difficult is it to travel with camera equipment?
Uganda is photography-friendly and vehicles are designed to safely hold gear. A padded backpack or roller case is all you need.
🐘 What wildlife can I expect to see?
Quite a lot — Uganda is extremely diverse.
You may encounter in Queen Elizabeth NP, Elephants, Hippos, Lions (including tree-climbers in Ishasha), Leopards, Buffalo, Kob, topi, waterbuck, Abundant birdlife
And in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Mountain gorillas, Chimpanzees, L’Hoest’s monkeys, Colobus monkeys, Blue monkeys, Forest birds — turacos, hornbills, sunbirds, Chameleons & rainforest details

🌦️ What will the weather be like in October?
October is the start of the short rainy season, meaning:
Lush green landscapes, Dramatic mist and atmosphere in the forest, Softer light for photography, Short showers possible, but warm temperatures, it’s one of the most photogenic months of the year.

You will stay in comfortable lodges and eco-camps, each selected for:

Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth locations are chosen specifically for photographic access.
🚗 How do we get between parks?
All transfers are included. We use a combination of: Private 4x4 safari vehicles, Scenic internal flights (where applicable). Lodge-to-lodge transfers : everything is designed to reduce travel fatigue and maximize your time in the field.
🙏 Are the gorilla and chimp encounters safe?
Yes. You are accompanied by licensed, armed rangers and highly trained trackers at all times. Strict rules are followed to protect both guests and the wildlife. Uganda has one of the best primate protection systems in Africa.
💉 Do I need vaccinations?
Yellow Fever vaccination is required for entry into Uganda unless you have a medical exemption. Other recommended vaccines (not mandatory) include: Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, and Tetanus. Malaria precautions are recommended. Please consult your travel doctor for personal medical advice.
📱 Will there be Wi-Fi?
Yes most lodges offer Wi-Fi, though speeds may vary. Remote areas (especially in Bwindi) may have limited connectivity, which often enhances the wilderness experience.

📆 When should I book?
As early as possible.
Gorilla permits are extremely limited and must be secured months in advance. The workshop is capped at 5 photographers and their attendants, and spots fill quickly.
Terms & Conditions
Payment terms
- To confirm your safari booking, a 50% deposit is required. This deposit secures your reservations
and allows us to finalize preparations for your safari.
- Any changes or cancellations made before 90 days will be fully refunded on the actual invoice
- The full balance of payment is required 90 days before clients’ arrival.
- A payment plan can be arranged upon the guest's request
- Camili Safaris will only honor a booking if full payment has been received within 90 days of
arrival.
- In the event of an increase in taxes, levies and any other statutory charges, or additional div
costs, we reserve the right to make amendments to the rates accordingly.
- The full balance of payment is required 90 days before clients’ arrival.
Cancellation and Reduction in Number Policy:
Between 90 and 50 days prior to the date of stay, 20% of the total cost will be charged.
Between 50 and 25 days prior to the date of stay, 50% of the total cost will be charged.
Between 25 and a no-show, 100% of the total cost will be charged.
Insurances :
All guests should take out comprehensive insurance cover when paying their confirmation
deposit, to cover them for cancellation, curtailment, medical expenses, personal baggage,
emergency evacuation back home and money.
